The First Cut Lab and KVIFF Eastern Promises teams are delighted to launch the call for applications for the very first edition of First Cut Lab to take place during Karlovy Vary IFF! Besides calling for projects from Central and Eastern Europe, we are especially pleased to be able to welcome applicants from the Middle East and North Africa for the first time. The workshop will take place next July 2-5, 2019. 

First Cut Lab Karlovy Vary is a programme designed for 3 long feature fiction films in editing phase: one from Central and Eastern Europe, one from Czech Republic and Slovakia and one from the Middle East and North Africa. Selected producer/director teams will screen their full rough cut in a private session and receive expert feedback on their edit from three top international film professionals (creative producers, festival programmers, sales agents, etc) as well as tailor-made advice from consultant editor Benjamin Mirguet. All sessions will be moderated by FCL Director Matthieu Darras. The main goal is to foster the artistic potential of the selected rough cuts and, at the same time, to increase the sales, festival and circulation potential of the completed films.

The workshop will take place in Czech Republic from 2 to 5 July 2019 during Karlovy Vary IFF in collaboration with KVIFF Eastern Promises.
