Biography

Armi Rae Cacanindin is a Filipina producer, an alumna of the Asian Film Academy, Berlinale Talents, Talents Tokyo & IDFAcademy & recipient of funding from IDFA Bertha, Aide aux Cinema du Monde, World Cinema Fund, Sundance Film Institute, Doha Film Institute, Purin Pictures, Asian Cinema Fund, Hubert Bals Fund, Vision Sud Est, Singapore IFF, and FDCP’s ICOF & ACOF.

Her film, ASWANG, a creative documentary by Alyx Arumpac, premiered at IDFA 2019, winning the FIPRESCI Award, the Amnesty Int’l Award & the White Goose Award at the DMZ Docs. Meanwhile, Carlo Francisco Manatad’s debut feature Kun Maupay Man It Panahon (Whether the Weather is Fine), a Philippine / French / Singaporean / German / Indonesian co-production, received the Youth Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival.

Armi has served as a jury in several grants and film festivals including Viddsee Indonesia’s short film competition, Dokyu Talents from the East, and IDFA Europe Fund, and has done several lectures about film producing and co-productions both locally and abroad.

She was the head of the production of Anima, formerly Globe Studios, and has produced both films and series under it including Last Song Syndrome (PPP Special Jury Award 2019), Gaya Sa Pelikula (one of PH’s most successful BL series), ‘Ero and TM Mad Rush (a branded reality series).
