Biography
Eva Sangiorgi is currently the artistic director of VIENNALE, the Vienna International Film Festival.
She is graduated in Communication Sciences in Bologna and completed a Master in Art History in Mexico City.
She has a long experience as a programmer in several festivals in Latin America, and in particular in Mexico where she lived for sixteen years.
She founded the FICUNAM festival, which she directed until 2018, an event dedicated to auteur cinema, the promotion of political and research cinema and authors on the margins of the commercial circuit, linked to meetings, conferences and exhibitions.
She has launched and coordinated some publications on contemporary cinema by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM.
For several seasons she has been the presenter of a television programme dedicated to cinema, analysing films in dialogue with guests.
She has participated in several international festival juries such as La Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, Orizzonti Jury at the Venice Film Festival, FIDMarseille y Jeonju and in film production funding committees.
Eva Sangiorgi has been invited as guest lecturer at several universities in Latin America and Europe.
She chaired conversations with filmmakers in academic and festival contexts and contributed essays and texts in catalogues and publications. She has coordinated several editorial projects dedicated to contemporary cinema authors.
In 2016, she founded the distribution company BRAVA CINEMA in Mexico.
