Biography

Christoph Gröner has been working as a film journalist and festival programmer for 20 years. From October 2023 he is CEO and festival director of Filmfest München, the biggest summer festival in Germany.

Additionally, he serves as Director of Filmschoolfest Munich every fall, a festival that has united filmmakers globally for over 40 years and defines itself as a festival of future storytellers.

Before that he has been Artistic Director of Filmfest München for five years, competition programmer for the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival for a decade and consultant on German-speaking regions for the Zurich Film Festival for several years.

He introduces films on the European culture TV channel Arte and is a member of the European Film Academy.
