Biography
HE SHUMING is a writer/director with several short films under his belt. A recognized member of the film community in Singapore, he graduated from the Puttnam School of Film and Animation, LASALLE College of The Arts, Singapore. Recipient of a scholarship awarded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, Shuming furthered his craft at the American Film Institute Conservatory, where he completed his MFA in directing.
His debut feature film, Ajoomma, premiered at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in its prestigious New Currents section and garnered 4 nominations at the 59th Golden Horse Awards, including Best New Director. The film is also Singapore’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards.
Recently, Shuming was conferred the Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council, one of Singapore’s most distinguished honors for the arts.
