Launch of First Cut Lab Australia, in partnership with Screen Australia
TATINO is excited to announce a new partnership with Screen Australia with the creation of First Cut Lab Australia. This new initiative aims to support early to mid-career Australian filmmakers with dedicated feedback to create the optimal cut of their feature film. To be eligible, projects must be narrative content intended for theatrical release, but do not need to have been previously supported by Screen Australia funding.
Screen Australia Head of Market & Audience Rakel Tansley said:
“Connecting Australian stories to audiences locally and globally has never been more complex, making it critical that filmmakers have access to the right tools, expertise and audience insights. Through our First Cut Lab and Impact & Insights partnerships, Australian creatives will have the opportunity to work alongside international leaders and access guidance, research and audience intelligence to shape their projects and strategies. Our aim is to empower filmmakers to maximise the potential for Australian stories to resonate at home and around the world.”
About this exciting new initiative, Julie Marnay, Co-Head of First Cut Lab added:
“First Cut Lab is delighted to launch this new partnership with Screen Australia. It marks a natural next step in the programme’s evolution: since its launch in 2019, First Cut Lab has grown from a European-rooted initiative into a truly international one. This collaboration will allow selected creative teams to test their edit with professional audiences across the globe, further strengthening First Cut Lab’s ties with the Australian film industry.”
