from Norwegian Dream by Leiv Igor Devold – First Cut Lab Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein 2022
FIRST CUT LAB HAMBURG SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN 2024
First Cut Lab Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein is a consultancy program designed for 3 feature films in editing phase that are supported by the MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. The Lab will take place online from 1. June to 31. October 2024, depending on the needs of the projects.
The selected teams (director/producer/editor) are offered a creative framework, both benevolent & challenging, where to open up new perspectives and to explore the whole artistic potential of their films. They screen their rough cut in a private session, and receive expert feedbacks from three international film industry advisors, as well as tailor-made advice from a consultant editor.
Consultant and industry advisors will be defined according to the profiles of the films selected. An overview of regular consultants of First Cut Lab can be found here: http://firstcutlab.eu/people/
Once the workshop is over, the participants receive a report & a roadmap that can serve as guidance for further editing. Eventually, the ambition of First Cut Lab is to enhance the audience opportunities of the films.
DATES
The program will take place online, and each film will be workshopped within the period from 1. June 2024 to 31. October 2024.
Each film is accompanied by First Cut Lab for a period of roughly 6 weeks, even though the core of the Lab takes place over two consecutive days.
The exact dates of the Lab will be chosen in agreement with each selected team to best answer the needs of their films. A preferred period for the Lab should be mentioned in the application form.
DEADLINE:
3 MAY 2024
We participated with our coming of age thriller Spirit in the Blood at First Cut Lab in 2022 at a very early stage of editing and it was a great experience. The comments were so thought through and supportive that it helped us a lot to get a better sense of where we are going to take the story and how to plan out the next chapter of editing, in order to make the time we have count
PARTICIPATION FEES
Selected projects will have to pay participation fees of 1 000 Euros before the program starts.
