International success for Core of the World and Summer Survivors

Oct 9, 2018

In the run up to making another selection of promising projects in post-production for FCL 2019 it’s exciting to see how well last years’ crop is doing. Both Core of the World and Summer Survivors are going strong internationally.

Core of the World by Nataliia Meshchaninova, participant of FCL Trieste 2018, won the Best Film Award at the Riga International Film Festival. The film has already been on a winning streak since it’s premiere at Kinotavr (Sochi Open Russian Film Festival) where it won the Grand Prix as well as Best Actor for Stepan Devonin and the film Critics’ Guild prize. It had it’s North American premiere at Toronto’s Contemporary World Cinema section and in Europe in the New Directors competition of San Sebastian Film Festival. International rights have been acquired by Indie Sales.

Lithuanian participant of the same FCL edition, Summer Survivors by Marija Kavtaradzė, is also doing very well. It had it’s world premiere at Toronto in the Discovery section and screened in Reykjavik and Athens after. Last week it won The Young Jury award at Tofifest in Poland. Sales are handled by Heretic Outreach

Good going!!
