from My Thoughts Are Silent by Antonio Lukić – First Cut Lab Ukraine 2019


First Cut Lab Ukraine was a programme designed for 3 long feature fiction films in editing phase from Ukraine. Selected producer/director teams screened their full rough cut in a private session and received expert feedback on their edit from three top international film professionals. The advisers that feedbacked the three selected films from Ukraine were:

Aurélie Godet – Festival programmer & member of Berlinale selection committee

Laure Parleani – Co-founder of TOTEM Films sales company

Rebecca De Pas – Programmer at Visions du Réel

Roman Paul – Producer at Razor Film and co-Head of Atelier Paris-Ludwigsburg training program

Lucero Garzon – Head of Sales for Cinemarket & Head of Biarritz FF Lab

Marina Andree Skop – Producer at Studio Dim

The project teams also got tailor-made advice from a consultant editor. For this edition they were: Benjamin MirguetCatalin Cristutiu and Maya Maffioli

The workshop took place online from 14 to 18 September 2020. There was an additional program in Kyiv for Ukrainian participants during the week of the workshop. As a side event, there was also a public panel discussion « Revenus from international sales and distribution of the films » with practical cases on the international sales and distribution on 16. September.

First Cut Lab in Ukraine was supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, and is co-organized by the Film Industry Association of Ukraine.
